REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, June 23, 2005
A regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Thursday, June 23, 2005, in the
Dr. Burnett Eglow Media Center of the Middle School/High School Building, 365 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President,
Mrs. Carroll.
Mrs. Carroll read the following statement:
"Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, the Board Secretary caused notice of this meeting to be given to the public and the press on May 2, 2005".
Roll Call was taken by Joseph T. Bellino, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, and the following members responded to their names:

Mrs. Carroll led the Board in the flag salute.
RESOLUTION: Whereas, in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public
PS-011-05 Meetings Act the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education wishes to meet in Private Session for the purpose of discussing matters of a confidential nature relating to
personnel matters. .
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education adjourn to Private Session for the purpose of discussing such matters, and
Be It Further Resolved, that the public be informed of these matters as soon as the need to remain confidential is no longer necessary at a future date to be determined.
Meeting adjourned to private session at 8:04 p.m.
Meeting was reopened at 8:45 p.m.

RESOLUTION: Be It Resolved that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approves the
06-110-05 appointment of Mrs. Eileen Drago as a teacher for the 2005-2006 school year at the salary rate of $48,962, assignment to be determined.

Mr. DeLorenzo commented the committee met and discussed High School French, school calendar, test scores, task force, keys and field trips.

Mr. Parodi commented the committee met and discussed new computers, distribution of old, laptops.

Mr. Ruroede commented the committee met and discussed Hitchcock shed, tennis courts, Franklin court and summer projects.
Recreation Committee
Mr. DeLorenzo gave a spring sports update.
Finance Committee
Mr. Ruroede commented the committee met and discussed the current budget, new OT position,
Pilot’s Log subsidy and dental insurance.

PTA Liaison - Mr. Salerno reported on Euclid School activities.
Key Communicators - Mr. Giarratana reported on topics discussed including field house bathrooms renovations, test scores, purchase of laptops in place of auditorium seats from Enterprise Fund surplus.

The following resolutions were moved by Mr. Giarratana, seconded by Mr. DeLorenzo:
RESOLUTION: Whereas, the named students as per Attachment A have satisfactorily completed
6-060-05 the course of studies required for graduation from Hasbrouck Heights High School, and
Whereas, Mr. Joseph Luongo, Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Peter O'Hare, Principal of Hasbrouck Heights High School, have certified that these students have satisfactorily completed the required course of study, now,
Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education award a diploma of graduation to each of the students whose name is set forth on Attachment A, which is made a part hereto, and
Be It Further Resolved, that the President of the Board, Edwinna Carroll, and the Board Secretary, Joseph T. Bellino, be and they hereby are, authorized to sign and seal diplomas of graduation on behalf of the Board of Education.

6-084-05 the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve summer workshops for teachers at the contractual rate of $28.00 per hour as follows:
HS/MS Math Cost not to exceed $4,500
HS/MS Special Education Cost not to exceed $1,500
Be It Further Resolved that the cost of these workshops are completely funded by Title IIA "No Child Left Behind" Grant.
