REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, January 25, 2007

A regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 in the
Middle/High School auditorium, 365 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.  The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President, Mr. Ruroede.

Mr. Ruroede read the following statement:

"Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, the Board Secretary caused notice of this meeting to be given to the public and the press on May 4, 2006.

Roll Call was taken by Joseph T. Bellino, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, and the following members responded to their names:

Mr. Luongo reported the following:
Congratulations to teacher on adoption of foreign child, sports drug testing and instructional time.

Mr. Ruroede discussed cap on property tax.

Mrs. Ciocia commented the committee met and discussed workshop, and supervisors presentations.

Special Education Committee

Mr. Salerno commented the committee met and discussed teachers and assistants leaves of absence, test scores, new pre-k, and new policies.

Technology Committee

Mr. Parodi commented the committee met and discussed new software, elementary e-mail, electronic report cards, and magnetic doors.

Facilities Committee

Mr. DeLorenzo commented the committee met and discussed new inspection forms, new wireless clocks, bypass valves, Franklin FC access, manpower shortages, MS/HS intercom, and new sign.
           
Recreation Committee

Mr. Condal commented the committee met and discuss beta club, and drug testing.

Finance Committee

Mrs. Hodulik commented the committee met and discussed banking, e-rate grant, B & G improvements, and medical opt-out.

Labor Relations/Negotiations Committee - None

NJ/BCSBA

Mrs. Doheny discussed update on Trenton bills.

Borough Council Liaison – None

Faculty Liaison

Mrs. Hodulik met to discuss security, copy machines, bathroom cleanliness, and progress reports.

PTA Liaison

Mrs. Hodulik discussed LS update, Mr. Salerno discussed ES update, Mrs. Doheny discussed MS/HS update

Mrs. Hodulik commented the committee met and discussed district calendar, pandemic flu, Depken Field project, mid-terms, study guides, B & G issues, and copy machines.

                        1.  Report of the Board Secretary for the month of August, 2006
                        2.  Report of the Treasurer of School Funds for the month of August, 2006

RESOLUTION:  Be It Resolved that pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11-4 and upon consultation
1-307-07            with the appropriate district officials, the Board certifies that to the best of its                                    knowledge, no major account or funds have been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C.                          6A:23-2.11(a) and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district's financial                          obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

RESOLUTION:   Be it Resolved that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve the payroll
1-308-07            for the month of December, 2006, as adjusted, in the amount of $1,373,896.27and that                          the President of the Board, the School Business Administrator, and the Treasurer of                          School Funds be, and they hereby are, authorized to sign warrants up to and including                          the above.

RESOLUTION:    Be it Resolved that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve the
1-309-07             estimated payroll for the month of January, 2007 in the amount of $1,328,056.76, and                          that the President of the Board, the School Business Administrator, and the Treasurer                          of School Funds be, and they hereby are, authorized to sign warrants up to and                                     including the above $1,328,056.76.

RESOLUTION:    Be it Resolved that the President of the Board, the Board Secretary, and the
1-310-07             Treasurer of School Funds be, and they hereby are, authorized to sign warrants for                          supplies and materials received and services rendered to the Hasbrouck Heights                          School District .The amount for the month of January being:

RESOLUTION:    Whereas, the Annual School Election will be held on April 17, 2007, and
1-311-07            Whereas, school board elections now conform to the general election process and be                          supplemented in Title 19 of the New Jersey Statutory Code, and

                         Whereas, this brings such elections under the jurisdiction of the County Clerk, Boards                          of Elections and Superintendent of Elections,

                         Now, Therefore be it Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education                                      authorize the time of election to be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 

RESOLUTION:    Be It Resolved that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve the 1-312-07                           drawing of the names for positions on the ballot for the Annual School Election of                           April 17, 2007, be held in the Administration Building, 379 Boulevard, Hasbrouck                           Heights, New Jersey on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 3:45 p.m.

RESOLUTION:   Be It Resolved that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools,
1-313-07            the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve the following company as a                                    provider of tax shelter annuity, disability and supplemental insurance program to district                         employees for the 2007-2008 school year:

                        1.            New York Life

                        Be it Further Resolved that all named companies must meet all Federal and State                         regulations and requirements for sales and services if these products.
