SPECIAL WORK/ACTION SESSION MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, March 12, 2007

A work session meeting of the Board of Education was held on Thursday, March 12, 2007, in the Administration Building, 379 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.  The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President, Mr. Ruroede.

Mr. Ruroede read the following statement:

"Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, the Board Secretary caused notice of this meeting to be given to the public and the press on March 10, 2007".

Meeting adjourned due to lack of quorum at 8:02 p.m.

Meeting reopened at 8:45

Roll Call was taken by Joseph T. Bellino, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, and the following members responded to their names:

The board discussed the following:

1.            Proposed budget for the 2007-2008 school year

The following resolution was moved by Mrs. Hodulik, seconded by Mrs. Ciocia:

RESOLUTION:            Whereas, the Board of Education developed assumptions, constraints, and
3-344-07                      priorities to guide the Superintendent in preparing a budget for the 2007-2008                                   school year, and;

                           Whereas, the Board has carefully reviewed and enhanced the budget proposed by the                            Superintendent.

                           Now, therefore, Be It Resolved the Board of Education approve the following final                            preliminary budget for the 2007-2008 school year:

                        General Fund            $21,779,589              $19,965,249                                                                       
                        Special Revenue Fund            665,224                               0
                                   
                        Debt Service             767,412                     524,280
                                     
                   Be It Further Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approves the                    request for Commissioners adjustments in the following categories and amounts for the                    2007-2008 school year, said adjustments are needed in the coming school year and will be                    completed by the end of the budget year and cannot be deferred or incrementally                    completed over a longer period of time:           
                       
                       
                        Special Education over $40,000            $437,236
                        Increase in Tuition            12,984                       

                    Be It Further Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education approve  separate                     budget proposals #1 and #2 as per Attachment A, and
                       
                    Be It Further Resolved, that the Superintendent and Board Secretary are directed to                     submit this budget and all required support documentation to the County Superintendent                     as required by law, and

                    Be It Further Resolved,  that the Superintendent and Board Secretary are hereby                     authorized to amend this budget to whatever degree necessary in order to meet State                     budgetary requirements and directives for submission.
