MINUTES OF
KEY COMMUNICATORS MEETING
MONDAY, May 21, 2007

Present:      Joe Luongo, Josephine Ciocia, Connie Doheny, Lillian Romano, Donna Wipper, Linda Condal, Lynn Nilsson, Lizz Nuzzo, Gina Hoffman, Nancy Smith, Lisa Palladino

Joe Luongo opened the meeting at 7:33 PM.
District:
Depken Field -  Mr. Luongo stated that bids are coming in next Wednesday at 10AM and he will be there.  The project should start by the end of June and should be done by the beginning of October.

Director of Special Services – Mr. Luongo is recommending Steve Forte for Director of Special Services with a 10% pay raise.  This would make his salary $110,000.  This will be presented to the board this Thursday for a vote.

Non Tenure Personnel -
Mr. Luongo attached the list of non tenure teachers to be voted upon at Thursday’s meeting.  The assignment that is on the list may not be the final assignment.

Automated Phone System -
Mr. Luongo received quotes from $3,600 to $17,000.  He needs to investigate and little further but it does look promising for the upcoming school year.

High School/ Middle School:

Tennis Courts -
The job went out for bids this week and the bids will be back in the middle of June.  The work will start in July.  There may not be any Summer Tennis Program.

Old Gym -
Mr. Luongo is aware of the smell in the old gym.  He believes the smell is caused by cleaning the floor with dirty mops.  It is being looked into and a solution will be found and implemented.

Final Exams -
A parent wanted to know if Mr. Luongo knew which teachers, if any, were doing a cumulative exam instead of ½ a year.  Mr. Luongo believes math is the only one but he will check into this matter.

Elementary Schools:

Lincoln School Principal -
If the board approves Steve Forte for Director of Special Services than we will be looking for a new principal.  Mr. Luongo will form a committee with Linda Simmons as chair, teachers, parents and the liaison from the education committee to investigate and make recommendations.

Kindergarten-
There will be an extra kindergarten class next year at Lincoln for a total of 5 classes.  There will be 2 at Euclid and 3 at Lincoln.
At this time there are no meetings scheduled for the months of June, July and August.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.

Minutes submitted by Donna Wipper.
