MINUTES OF
KEY COMMUNICATORS MEETING
Monday, December 17, 2007

Present:     Joe Luongo, Connie Doheny, Vicky Viola, Marnie Messeri, Lynn Nilsson, Josephine Ciocia, Lillian Romano,  Darlene Hauptman, Donna Wipper, Jodi O’Connor

Joe Luongo opened the meeting at 7:35 PM.

District:
Cable TV- The cable company will install one cable wire per school.

Grading Policy- Joe Luongo sent memos to all administration and instructional supervisors regarding the policy; if they felt it should remain as is or should be altered.  The decision was that the grading policy remains as it is written.

Lincoln School:
Mrs. Siconolfi’s replacement – Mr. Luongo is recommending to the Board for their approval at this Thursday’s meeting, the hiring of Erica Rifon as Mrs. Siconolfi’s replacement during maternity leave.  Erica Rifon has been the student teacher for Mrs. Marino this year.

Custodian not wearing uniform – Parents were questioning who the man was since he was not been wearing a uniform for identification.  The Board of Education is responsible for getting him a uniform.

We were informed that he has been given a uniform shirt which he will be wearing.  However, he is allergic to the polyester blend of the pants and therefore he has been instructed to purchase uniform pants that are comfortable to him.

Snow not being cleared Friday morning -   There were many complaints that the snow from Ottawa Avenue to the playground entrance, and the snow in the drop off curb was not cleared.  Children and parents were slipping and sliding on the ice.  We were informed that the snow and ice removal at the curb and street is the responsibility of the Department of Public Works.  Mr. Luongo questioned the two custodians that were assigned snow removal duty on Thursday night.  Apparently, one of them was tired and went home and the other followed suit without clearing the designated areas.   Mr. Luongo is making a recommendation to the Board at Thursday’s meeting regarding disciplinary action for the two custodians.

Euclid School:
Mrs. Simmons’s status – Apparently Mrs. Simmons has a sinus infection and that needs to be cleared up before she can reschedule her procedure.

High School:
RenWeb - Parent stated that the entire homework for a child is not always visible.  Sometimes you are required to go to each individual teacher’s web page to see the week’s homework.  Also, it was stated that a teacher is posting “see classroom board” as the homework assignment.   This defeats the purpose of RenWeb and does not give the parent access to their child’s homework.  This matter will be reviewed.
