MINUTES OF
KEY COMMUNICATORS MEETING
Monday, January 28, 2008

Present:      Joe Luongo, Connie Doheny, Lizz Nuzzo, Vicky Viola, Marnie Messeri, Lynn Nilsson, Josephine Ciocia, Lillian Romano,  Darlene Hauptman, Donna Wipper, Jodi O’Connor

Joe Luongo opened the meeting at 7:35 PM.

District:
Technology Coordinator - The Board has received 20 applications for this position.  One of the prerequisites is that the person has school experience associated with this position.

Middle School/High School:
Locker Rooms – Unsupervised - The issue was that the locker rooms are not being supervised by a staff member.  Mr. Luongo stated that there is a schedule and the locker room should be supervised during physical education periods.  When Mr. Luongo is given the exact periods this is occurring he will investigate.

Elementary Schools:

Detention - This matter has been brought up before so, therefore, Mr. Luongo made a final decision regarding detention.  Detention will only be given under three conditions:
            a.  Principal assigns for disciplinary reasons
            b.  Make up test/quizzes
            c.  Lateness to school

If a child does not do his homework, he will receive a zero and will not be given school time to make up this work.  The detention policy will apply to Lincoln and Euclid School.

Extra Help Days -  Parents wanted the doors to open a little earlier since extra help starts at 7:45 AM.  Therefore, the doors will open at 7:40 AM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Enrollment Issue - Presently, the enrollment is 410 students at Lincoln and 359 students at Euclid.  Mr. Luongo reassured us that the schools are not over-crowded.

Doctor’s Office -   Parents who wished to volunteer as kindergarten helpers were required to go to the school physician to have a drug test.  Two parents called Mr. Luongo and complained about the cleanliness of the doctor’s office.  Mr. Luongo informed them that they must put the complaint in writing and then he will investigate.  Mr. Luongo stated that the doctor’s office is old, but, to his knowledge, is not unclean.

Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 25, 2008 at 7:30 PM.
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
